Despite concerned citizen feedback given to the Trustees at these and other meetings, they have chosen to put an unnecessary tax burden on the citizens of Concord AGAIN by outwardly supporting Issue 1, the 8 million, 26-year levy.

Defeating Issue 1 is critical. We ask that you Vote No, again, to higher taxes for 26 years. A No vote ensures our Trustees will be fiscally responsible with all our tax dollars.

As we’re sure you know by now, our Trustees have apparently disregarded many of the informed opinions and ideas expressed by residents at the recent series of public meetings.

As we communicated last week, the Concord Trustees will hold the first of several Stakeholder Meetings to gain community input around their proposed process to design, build and fund two new fire stations.

The coronavirus outbreak and subsequent economic crisis of the past few months has resulted in everyone making adjustments to their normal lifestyles. We certainly must applaud our first responders for their readiness to meet our needs in Concord Township.

The Concord Trustees and administration are working hard to revise the plans for our new fire stations following the resounding defeat of Issue 1 last November. We wanted to give you a brief update on the current state as well as advise you of a couple key public meetings that we would encourage you to attend to ensure our collective voice continues to be heard.

A tax levy has been placed on the November 5 ballot to fund a new, incredibly large fire station. If passed, YOU will pay your share of the $10 million in new taxes.

We could be forced to pay more than $10 million in new taxes – plus millions in interest and other costs – because the Trustees are proposing an outrageously large and expensive fire station.

The recent letter to the editor regarding Lyndhurst’s approach to improving their fire station clearly showed a responsible, cost effective approach, without saddling the residents with a mountain of debt.
